Stream a New Main Finger Remix on YouTube!

I currently have my hand in several projects. Rather than wait until each and every one of these projects is finished to release new music to the public, I've decided to use the Main Finger YouTube channel to stream rough cuts of new songs. Some of the stuff I'm working on still needs to be hidden for now, but I am releasing one song today and plan on releasing more in the not too distant future.

Today's streamable debut is the rough cut of my remix of "Always On My Mind". This song is covered to death, but the particular version I chose to remix (by Akira Yamaoka and Mary Elizabeth Glynn) is vastly different than the rest. Go ahead and give it a listen here or after the break. And be sure to subscribe to keep up to date on new streamable rough cuts.

Main Finger Wins Dark Void Remix Contest!

I have some very exciting news! About a month ago, I set out to enter an official remix competition that Capcom (in association with URB) was holding. My mission was to remix the theme song from the upcoming Dark Void videogame. The soundtrack is scored by Bear McCreary who you might know from Battlestar Galactica and Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles. McCreary himself was one of the judges of the contest.

To my surprise, I actually won. As a prize, I will receive three different items to expand my studio and further my musical possibilities. I also had the privilege of reading McCreary's personal comments about my remix. You can find the song in the blog post linked below.

Bear McCreary's thoughts on Theme of Dark Void (Main Finger Remix) and download link

Well, this post is almost a month overdue. Oh well, better late than never!

In association with The Mega Man Network, I'm working on a remix album of the entire soundtrack to Mega Man Battle Network. To anybody not familiar with the source material here, it is some great stuff. We plan to release the album sometime mid next year and you can listen to three different preview tracks (one of which is from yours truly) on the project's official site. So go check it out!

Main Finger on the Mega Man 9 Remix Project!

This post is actually several weeks late since I've been out of town a lot lately. This news is not exactly secret, but I've never officially revealed it on the main site until right now. OverClocked ReMix, the biggest videogame remix community on the internet, is putting together a Mega Man 9 remix album this December (most likely, the 15th). How does this relate to Main Finger? I'm on it, that's how!

For the first time since 2002, I will have a song associated with the OCR site. The album is coming along smoothly and my track can actually be heard on the latest teaser (the second song in). I'm honored to be featured on the same album as fantastic artists like bLiNd, whose work has been an inspiration to me.

Like all OCR albums, it will be available for download completely free upon release. As a huge Mega Man fan myself, I can't wait to hear what the other artists have come up with. You can let the people involved know what you think of the project here.

It's no secret that I'm doing a print version of Mode7. I've mentioned it several times before. Today, though, it has become a reality. I just recieved my review copy of Mode7 printed by Kunaki. You can see photos of it here. This CD will NOT be available for purchase to avoid legal trouble from any of the samples used. You WILL, however, have the chance to win a FREE copy of it in the near future. I will have the details on that at a later date. And of course, you can still download the entire album (except for the exclusive bonus track) for free in variable bit rate mp3 format here.

And of course, donations are always welcome, too. Have no fear, listeners! There will be more good news on the horizon!

Mode7 Album Art and Song Descriptions Up!

Well the con is finally over. I managed to have reasonable success in spreading the word about Mode7. I've updated the album page with the new album art. My good friend, Geoffio, was gracious enough to do the cover art for me. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Also, I've added both an album summary and descriptions for each track. If you were one of the people at Emerald City Comicon who grabbed a CD, you'll be happy to know that there is a bonus track on it that isn't available on the site. And by the way... THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all the people that donated toward the album and purchased shirts at the con! That was awesome. If anybody would like to make donations through PayPal, there is now a donation button in the sidebar. Thanks again for all your support!

UPDATE: Apologies to Geoffio. I uploaded an older version of the album art by mistake. I was very tired. It is fixed now, sorry!

One of the users on the forum
pointed out an interesting thing. It seems somebody found one of the
"demo versions" of a Mode7 song on my soundclick site (that I often
forget exists).
They used my remix of Passion from Kingdom Hearts 2 and used it to make
a Kingdom Hearts AMV. It's on youtube and you can find it here.
Because there are so many comments asking for the song for download I am posting a link to the demo version here.
Keep in mind that soon enough I will have a remastered final version of
the track, in fact I have gotten requests to master this track next so
you might hear the final sooner than you think!

I started a blog for various reasons. The blog will be for Main Finger and personal use, but also for
Noise and a Beat as well as
Geoffio's
solo work.
Anywho, I'm still hard at work on the new album, in fact I just
invested in some studio monitor headphones to help me do a more
professional mix. They are really
exposing the error of my mixes! I plan on posting things I wouldn't
post on the main site like bits of random music that won't go on albums
and even possibly some
preview clips for albums. So visit the blog and stay tuned!

Wow, I haven't posted any news since I made the blog. If you want to
keep up to date you should get on over there! But before you do, I
wanted to give you all a 4-minute teaser of Mode 7. It's not quite
done, but it's REALLY close! We're almost there, for reals this time.
