Equipment: Software and Such

Up until this writing, I have used a very outdated computer. The latency of any MIDI input was usually an entire second. What would seem to be a reasonable number of effects and instrument channels would cause so many buffering issues that sections of the song would have to be exported for review. And the exporting progress... an eternity. I have, for the first time in my life, just bought a new computer. Every other computer I had purchased before writing this was second hand, outdated, and dirt cheap.

My new computer has none of these issues. Everything runs smoothly. My sound card actually has MIDI IN and OUT. This is extremely convenient.

My main piece of software is FL Studio. I have been using it since the days of Fruity Loops Pro. It's a solid sequencer that's evolved a lot over time. Many of the older songs on the site use this and this alone. For wave editing and recording, I prefer Adobe Audition. It use to be called Cool Edit before Adobe bought it, but it essentially functions in the same manner.

For Orchestral sound, I use Miroslav Philharmonik (plugged in to FL Studio as a VST). It provides me with a vast array of instruments and many different variations of each. I'm quite fond of it.
